Determining which Seta you belong to

According to the Skills Development Act all organisations with a turnover over 5mil is required to pay over 1% of their annual turnover this is called a skills development levy, it is important to establish which seta you belong to, so that your organisation as a stakeholder can obtain the benefits from the relevant Seta. Getting Legal assists organisations to obtain a SDL number and to establish which seta, according to their industry, they belong to.

Skills gap analysis of all staff

In order to establish skills and training needs of your organisation Getting Legal will conduct a skills gap analysis, where each employee’s job description is measured against their actual skills should there be any gaps training is scheduled or planned to ensure that the skills gap that exists is addressed by means of training.

Monthly record keeping of all trained staff

Keeping record of all people trained is imperative as this information and proof of training done will be required to submit the organisation’s Annual Training Report. Getting Legal keeps track of all trained staff and also ensures that the organisation makes use of accredited training providers.

Learnership application and management

Getting Legal assists organisations to apply for both funded and unfunded learnerships for employed and unemployed individuals and can also manage the learnerships at the request of our clients.

Compiling and submission of Workplace Skills Plan and Annual Training Report

Getting Legal assists organisations to identify skills shortages and training priorities this is then captured in the form of a Workplace skills plan, a plan indicating what training is planned for the skills year that lies ahead. The monthly records kept for training is used to complete the annual training report of the organisation, a report that reports on the training conducted in the last skills year. It is imperative that organisations that do not have an Internal Skills Development Facilitator utilises the services of an External Skills Development Facilitator to compile the WSP and ATR. Getting Legal is proud to have qualified skills development facilitators that have submitted WSP’s and ATR’s to all the various Seta’s.

Liaising with Seta to ensure payment of grants

Once the Annual Training Report is submitted an Organisation can claim back 40% of the SDL in mandatory grants and a further 10% can be obtained by means of discretionary grants.
